Thirstday: In honor of Kathy Lee & Hoda

Thursday again and almost to the weekend!! In honor of this day I'd like to start a weekly Thirsty Thursday blog post. Every Thursday I will provide a new drink recipe from my "Cocktails and Such" Pinterest board. This way we can all start off our weekend in the right direction and can share our new recipe with friends before a night out on the town, or even a movie night in.

Today's drink is Pink Grapefuit Margaritas (serves 4).

Things you will need include:

  • 1 Cup Ruby Red Grapefuit Juice
  • 1/2 Cup Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1 Cup Triple Sec Orange Liqueur
  • 3 Cups Ice
  • 1 Cup Silver Tequila
  • 1 Lime Cut in Wedges
  • Salt to rim the glass
Combine the Ruby Red Grapefuit Juice, Lime Juice, Triple Sec and ice in a blender.
Pour the contents in to a pitcher and add the tequila.
Then rim your glasses with salt and a lime wedge and pour your drink!

Hope y'all enjoy! Let me know what you think!

Time to Face Reality Tuesday

While on my Pinterest grind this morning I came across this Graduation Pin and I thought "Wow this couldn't fit my life any more perfectly right now"...

With the school year winding down and the weather warming up (well it has been up until the past couple of days) the ability to focus has become extremely hard. With graduation in less than a month my emotions are out of control, going from extremely happy to nostalgic in .2 seconds. This past weekend I had my sorority senior formal, and needless to say I was an emotional train wreck. But one thing I have learned is I am beyond blessed with the people who have come in to my life these past four years.

Right before formal!
I have truly met my best friends who have not only seen me grow, but have also played a part in making me the person I am today.

So where do we go from here? Luckily, that path is up to us. Follow your dreams and never give up.

Maybe reality really won't be so bad.

What are some of your biggest dreams?

Happily Ever After

I'm spending this beautiful Tuesday morning at one of my favorite places in this world... Panera. There is absolutely nothing like starting your day off with a Panera breakfast!

I hope that y'all have found yourselves enjoying a beautiful morning too, wherever you may be! Today I want to challenge you to do something just for you. Do something that you enjoy, something that will make you happy. We all need to treat ourselves from time to time and sometimes we forget that.

DAY 13: GOALS

My goals may not be like the usual person's goals. Yes, I do want an affluent career. Yes, I want my career to be something I really enjoy. But most importantly my goal is to live my life. I want to be spontaneous, do things that I want to do. You only live once and I refuse to have a single regret. I want to travel, I want to fall madly in love, I want to start my own family, I want to make a difference (even if it's small).

Biggest goal ever... Make it big on a talk show... Kelly Rippa's job would be ideal.

Most of all, I want to live happily ever after. Cliche? Maybe. But honestly, who would turn this dream down?

What are some of your goals?

Must Haves

Monday, Monday, Monday.

The lucky thing about this Monday is that there is only ONE MORE Monday until Spring Break!!! I hope y'all will be able to survive the next couple of weeks before your Spring Break too, we can do this!

DAY 12: Something you don't leave your house without.

These are probably the items that I try to make sure to constantly have on me (and my cell phone, of course!).

1) Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion.... Bath & Body Works.
2) Mascara.... Maybelline.
3) My debit card.
4) My school id.
5) My passport. I lost my driver's license one night so I am using my passport for the time being. People really love when you whip that thing out to show you are 21.
6) My sunglasses... never know when the sun is going to come shining through!
7) Car Keys & Coach ID holder w/ my Panera Card inside.
8) Burt's Bees Lip Balm.
9) A pen.

What are some things y'all don't leave home without?

Quotes

Can't believe we've somehow made it back to Monday again! I've tried to have the outlook that Mondays are a fresh start and maybe not so terrible... the keyword there being "tried". I hope everyone had a great weekend & got to enjoy some snow!

Our Norts and Sports quad was quite the dance party and filled with neons.

My absolute favorite picture from the night.

My little & I

On to the daily blog challenge. DAY 11: A quote you love

I am HUGE in to quotes, so just narrowing it down to one is absolutely impossible.I like to paint canvases with different quotes on them to decorate my room (this is also a great gift for friends and family).

"Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or be who we are."
 -Sex & the City

Autophobia

Happy Thursday y'all!!!

First of all, I hope that everyone had the best Valentine's Day yet and got to spend the day with all of the people they love. I am so excited for this weekend I can't even stand it! Big plans with some of my favorite people & we have a "Norts & Sports" quad tonight... this mixer theme includes all my favorite articles of clothing... fun patterned norts (nike shorts), frat tank & neon frat hat. Can't wait to share the pictures with y'all!!!

On to the Blog Challenge... Day 9 was "a favorite picture of your best friend" but I think that is kind of creepy. So, on to...

DAY 10: Something you're afraid of.
Naturally, like many other people, I am absolutely terrified of spiders. Tiny, tarantula and everything in between. They are literally AWFUL and I wouldn't mind if they all became extinct, at least from my life anyways.

However, there is something that I am much more afraid of and that is the fear of being alone.

I'm not talking about the fear of never having a significant other, although that plays a part as well, but just the fact of being alone with out friends and family. As you can probably tell from my previous blog posts my family and friends mean EVERYTHING to me. The thought of them no longer being in my life absolutely terrifies me. I generally like to be around others, except for during those rare sad mood days where I like to pop in a movie and cry the sadness away. Eating dinner alone? No thank you! I am in a constant need to be around the people I love. I am a crowd person... Disney World on peak days... why not? Being around others just fills me with happiness and I can't imagine having to be in this world completely alone.

What are some things you are afraid of?

Take Me There, I Wanna Go There

Monday, Monday, Monday. I don't know about y'all, but my Monday started off with sleeping through an alarm clock, which is NEVER fun & leads to lots of rushing around and panic.Good news, I didn't give up and go back to bed, I quickly jumped up and began going on with my day.

DAY 8: A Place You've Traveled to & Where Else You Want to Travel

My most favorite place to travel to is where I like to call my second home... Disney World. My family & I have stayed at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, All-Star Resort, Yacht Club and, finally, the Boardwalk Villas (the villas are the best).

Boardwalk at Night
Family :)
Disney World is where my family & I have made so many magical memories. My childhood is filled with trips to this wonderful place. I couldn't thank my Mom and Dad enough for all the wonderful times we've had there. I have danced on the Tomorrowland stage in Magic Kingdom with my dance studio & it was an awesome experience. I can't wait to take my own family there one day & make all of their dreams come true.

My Sorority Sisters & I visited Magic Kingdom
one day during Spring Break.
I have also gotten to go to Disney World with
two of my best friends, Kristin & Kelsey.

It is so hard to narrow it down to one place I would like to visit. My ideal would be getting the opportunity to travel the world. But I suppose there is one place that stands out the most and that would be Greece. I think this is a beautiful country and I would love to visit it one day.

Take me there, I wanna go there!
Check out my Places to Visit board on Pinterest to find out more of the places I'd like to go!

Happiness: The Key to a Wonderful Life

Happy lazy Sunday y'all! I absolutely love the weekends because of all the time I get to spend with my friends doing things that we enjoy. We went to see The Vow on Friday and it was extremely good, I mean anything with Channing in it is amazing. One of my favorite quotes from the movie was: "Life's all about moments of impacts and how they change our lives forever".  MUST paint it on a canvas soon!

On to the blog challenge...

DAY 7: What Makes You Happy

I could probably go on for days about the different things that make me happy. I love to laugh, smile and I always try to look on the bright side of things. I'm just going to hit some highlights...

My BEST FRIENDS! They always know how to make me smile. (SS -2)
My Baby Niece Ellis.
My Heart Family.
My Little.

Matthew Page.
Anything and everything Disney.
My Alumni Loves.

My two beautiful sisters.

Marissa (basically my little sister) & Caitlyn
My future roomie (fingers crossed).
I also love being with my parents, cheerleading competitions, running, the beach, making memories, taking pictures & getting the opportunity to wake up every morning and live my life to the fullest.

SS. love them so much. Thanks for making my senior of college the best I could ever wish for.

Bundle Up

Happy Wednesday y'all! We've made it half way through the week!

Shockingly, with as warm as it has been, I woke up to snowflakes this morning. I'm still not sure as to how I feel about these white little balls of "joy". Here are some of the things I wear to keep me warm when the temperature outside is less than ideal (summer girl at heart)...

Infinity Scarf. Something that can add a little something to any outfit.
North Face. Perfect for the wind & the snow.
Classic Tall Uggs. I never regret wearing these!

Leggings. Yes, they are pants.

Although you don't technically wear this... hot chocolate is always good to have to keep you warm on the inside!
Now, I can't forget to keep up with the daily blog challenge...

DAY 6: Pet Peeves.
I'm going to make this short and sweet. Number One. This pertains only to my dad. As much as I love him when he sneezes it isn't just once. No, I'm talking about 32 sneezes in a row. This drives me NUTS. Anybody else could do it and it wouldn't bother me. Just my dad. Kind of strange, I know.
Number Two. When people talk about something they know absolutely nothing about. Don't spread things when you have no idea what the situation is. Lastly, when my room isn't clean. I can't get anything done in a messy room & it absolutely drives me crazy. I'm not saying my room is perfect all the time but I definitely prefer it to be and it stresses me out when it's not.

Wherever y'all are I hope you have a wonderful day! And if you are in the snow like me... bundle up!!!

What are some things y'all do to stay warm?

I Hope You Dance

One thing I ABSOLUTELY couldn't go a day without? I would have to say music.  Every morning when I wake up I get my day started with my favorite song at that time. I look for meaning in songs & how I can apply the song to my life. Different situations call for different kinds of music. This leads me in to...

DAY 5:  A Song That Inspires You

"I Hope You Dance" -LeAnn Womack

My Mom & Dad had this lyric engraved on the back of my iTouch when I was in High School. Every time I hear it I tear up thinking about how much this song means to both my parents & I. I also have a sign hanging in my room with this quote. To me this song says to never give up and to always take chances. Take that leap of faith and go for what you want. These chances you take may lead to other opportunities down the road.

To go along with this I want to list the top 5 most played songs on my iPod:

1. Untouched -The Veronicas
2. Give in to Me -Garrett Hedlund & Leighton Meester
3. Texas Was You -Jason Aldean
4. 3Peat -Lil Wayne
5. Crazy Girl -Eli Young Band

What are some songs that inspire you

Amazing People

Returning from my weekend blogging siesta! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend filled with great memories & the ones you love!

For the 30 day blog challenge I suppose I will pick up right where I left off, which would be....

DAY 4: YOUR PARENTS

My parents are two of the most amazing people I know. The love that they share, not only for one another, but our entire family amazes me. I am proud to say that I look up to them in so many ways.

I have been extremely lucky and have been able to spend lots of quality time with my Daddy-o since he retired when I was about 10 years old. My Dad & I are very much alike personality wise. He would do absolutely anything for me... I really could never thank him enough for all he's done. However, I do blame him for my pickiness in the boyfriend category, because honestly nobody could ever could compare to what an amazing man, father & husband he is.

My Mom & I have become really close since I left for college. I feel like I can tell her absolutely anything and the best part about that is I know she will give me her honest opinion about whatever is going on. She is one of the most amazing women I know. She is Part Owner of an All-Star cheerleading gym & I know for a fact that no one knows the amount of hard work and dedication she puts in to this job. I am lucky to be able to call my Mom my best friend & true confidante. The things she has gone through and put up with (not only with me but in her own personal life) shows the strength and courage she has. Love you Mommy :)

Well that was my little bit of bragging for the day! Don't forget to tell your parents you love them tons every day... life is way too short to take it for granted!!!

One step closer to the weekend y'all! HAPPY MONDAY!

Hopeless Romantic

I hope everyone has had a fabulous Friday! Thank goodness the weekend has finally decided to grace us with its presence...another weekday would have been too much to handle.

Best part of today is that it is big DAY 3 of my blog challenge!!

DAY 3: Your First Love

Hopeless Romantic. Those are two words that could easily describe my love life. I don't want to ramble on and on about my first love. Yes, I've had one. Yes, it was one of the best feelings ever. And yes, I am a better person not only because I experienced it but also because it did fall apart, rather dramatically, but I will spare y'all the details. One of the most important lessons I learned is that it is important to love yourself unconditionally. Here are a few things that I do to show myself a little love:

1. Spend some quality time with your family.

Whether it be the family you were born in to or one you create for yourself, spending time with people who love you can help remind you to love YOU too! :)

2. Sex & the City Marathon: Pretending I personally know television/movie characters is one of my all time favorite things to do. The 4 girls in this show are friends that I turn to regularly, for love advice, laughs and a good cry.

3. Bake some deliciously sweet treats!
(check out my Pinterest dessert board).

4. Pamper yourself. Every girl can enjoy a day purely dedicated to herself every now and then. Schedule a massage or a pedicure. Do something special that is just for you! Forget about that busy schedule of yours and take a deep breath to remind yourself of all the wonderful things you have to offer.

What are some things that you do just for you?

As we head in to the weekend, whether you have a significant other or are "perfectly lonely" (thanks John Mayer), remember to always love YOU!

If ever you are in doubt listen to the advice of one of my personal role models Carrie Bradshaw:
"The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous."

From Workouts to Nicknames

As we all know the legendary Spring Break is just right around the corner. SIX WEEKS AWAY for this girl. And along with Spring Break comes the return of the bikini body (or at least a body in a bikini). Luckily this year I have been blessed with gorgeous weather to run outside in so I can steer clear of the packed, first of the year gym rats. But for those rainy/snowy, cool winter days that we seem to be lacking this year, I have found several awesome alternatives on Pinterest that you can do at home!

I know I will be participating in Fab Ab February!! Not only does it have a catchy name, but also super quick easy daily ab work outs. That way we can all work our way to that 6 Pack for the beach!

One of my personal favorites is the 100 Workout! This workout really gets your heart pumping... and if you are really looking for a challenge try repeating the cycle a few times!

You can try this workout while making dinner, during a commercial break or right after you wake up! Does it really burn 100 calories? Who knows. But hey, at least you are getting some activity in!

If you want to see some more easy workouts, check out my workout board on Pinterest!
Lexi's Workouts

DAY 2: Nicknames

Can't forget this little gem. Well the name I go by is kind of a nickname because my Middle name is actually Alexis. In 2nd grade, thanks to the show The Secret World of Alex Mack, I decided to go by Alex.  In 3rd grade, I was too afraid to tell my teacher she had spelled my name wrong so I went by Lexie that year and dropped the "e" as soon as the school year was over. Other than those minor changes I am a "Lexi" through and through!

Do y'all have any fun workouts or unique nicknames?

To a New Beginning

Hellllllo Blog World!!!

I am so excited to start my very own blog! How many of y'all absolutely love/have a borderline obsession with Pinterest? Well, I will go ahead and throw it out there that I am completely 100% in a full blown relationship with the site. One of my main focuses throughout this blog is to highlight some of my favorite things I find on Pinterest, from crafts to recipes, I want to explain my boards and the reasons I find some of the things pins so awesome! I'm going to figure out a weekly system of things I will focus on that day once I get the hang of blogging! :)

But, first off I think it is important for y'all to get to know me a little better, and let's be honest who doesn't like to talk about themselves? So I have decided to do a 30 day blog challenge to get started (thanks to Kenzie Explains It All)!

I hope that my blog will inspire crafting, trying new things & just plain entertainment.... here goes nothing!

DAY ONE: Introduce, recent picture of yourself & 15 interesting facts.

My name is Lexi & I am currently a student studying Communication Studies and Sociology. I will be graduating in May 2012 and taking a few classes this summer (still not ready to leave the college life, not sure I ever will be). My family and friends mean everything to me and I can't imagine what I would do without them. Don't want to give away to much before my interesting facts!

  1. My family is big in to the competitive cheerleading world and it is something that will never cease to amaze me. (If you don't think competitive cheerleading is a sport go check out some routines on youtube i.e. Top Gun, World Cup Shooting Stars, etc.)
  2. Red bull is my weakness.
  3. Tanning heals the soul... Vitamin D is very important to have :)
  4. Disney World & Disney Movies describe some of my most magical memories.
  5. My dream is to have my own talk show.
  6. Role Model: Kelly Rippa. I met her one year in Disney World and have looked up to her ever since.
  7. I could watch movies all day, everyday.
  8. I love the Kardashians... Kim is MY GIRL (don't hate).
  9. I am an extremely picky eater. I get a cheeseburger, no meat and no condiments, from McDonalds.
  10. I love to run outdoors.
  11. Summer is my favorite season. Beach time, tan lines, sun dresses and plenty of time to spend with friends and family never gets old.
  12. I love to make crafts and paint canvases with quotes.
  13. Sigma Kappa has helped to make me in to the person I am today.
  14. I still have my blankies from when I was born & drink a glass of chocolate milk every morning.
  15. Absolute favorite quote that defines my life: "I'm just happy, very, very, happy" -Walt Disney

Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions!! So excited to begin!
